Design Thinking is a powerful approach to problem-solving and supports schools to move toward a more hands-and minds-on, challenge-based curriculum. Watch Co Barry’s Ted Talk on ways that design thinking methodology can unleash student creativity and improve students’ ability to solve complex real-world problems. “How might we…” Design Thinking Project

Our students are just starting to train their brains to think logically and problem solve. By bringing the design thinking project into your classroom, you can support students’ development of metacognition and teach standards in an easy, project-based format. Design thinking is a framework students can use to solve problems and create their own ideas.

TomTod’s “How might we…” Design Thinking Project provides a step-by-step guide through the design thinking process that students can use to answer a driving question aligned to your standards. We designed this project and interactive student slide deck to be a template for you to use to teach your standards in a new and engaging way with your students.

Topics covered in the project are:

  • The design thinking process
  • Empathy
  • Goal setting and problem analysis
  • Prototyping and testing methods
  • Connecting standards to a driving question

We hope this project empowers your students to explore, ideate, create, and learn!
