We know middle schoolers want to do things that matter!
At Camp What If: Wilds, we use design-thinking concepts to dream up ways to do good in the world. This year’s theme is the Lake Erie watershed: exploring how that Great, wet, northern neighbor of ours has an outsized impact on all of us who live in NE Ohio…and how we impact it right back!
Pricing and Scholarships
Camp What If: Wilds is $415. But don’t pay full price – we have multiple discounts and scholarships ready for you. Our total per-camper value is over $1,000, but thanks to generous underwriting from our partners and donors, especially the Herbert W. Hoover Foundation, we’re able to provide the entire Camp What If experience at this deeply discounted tuition!

The best of summer camp is here!
Camp What If is all about having fun and doing good.
Nestled in the heart of Ohio’s only National Park, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the Environmental Education Center will be our hub for the week, providing loads of opportunities to explore the great out of doors. We’ll also be taking a day trip to Lake Erie to get up close and personal with all of its great, watery fun.
Why the Lake Erie watershed?
Lake Erie has a gigantic impact on NorthEast Ohio. However, particularly if you don’t live within sight, it’s easy to forget about its influence, except for perhaps the occasional snow day reminder from “lake effect snow.” Here’s some informative facts:
- 11 million people get their drinking water from Lake Erie
- 70 million gallons of water are pulled out of Lake Erie every day by residents and industry
- It’s the 11th largest lake in the entire world
Not only does Lake Erie impact all of us who live nearby it, from jobs to water to weather, it is also hugely affected by all of us! What run-off do we send its way? What trash and pollutants do we let interact with its wildlife? How do our choices change this resource for the better or worse?
We’ll be exploring all of these questions through experiments, field trips (including a day at the Lake!), interviews with experts, and more!
TomTod Ideas empowers you to make world-changing ideas.
At camp, we use a variety of approaches to ideation and human-centered design. To solve problems, we work together and create lots of ideas. We test out those ideas in real time, building prototypes and imagining real-world scenarios. Then we refine, re-evaluate, and reimagine until we have an idea that will truly enhance the common good. Plus, at camp it’s a whole lot of fun!
